Dementia care

Dementia care for the elderly in Bristol

Dementia is the name for a group of diseases which cause the functioning of the brain to decline. Alzheimer’s is the most common of these.

Living with dementia can be disorienting, and people with dementia can find choice confusing. When they find their memory and thought processes are declining, people can feel anxious and scared, which can be both frustrating and upsetting.

Which is why more and more families are turning to home care rather than residential care, so their loved one can stay somewhere they know and love. Following familiar routines in a familiar setting can be truly beneficial for people with dementia.

At Caring Comes 1st, our experienced healthcare assistants help people with dementia feel more secure and valued by creating a regular, safe, daily routine of everyday tasks. We encourage and involve, and keep our communication clear, calm and simple to understand.

Each person’s experience of coping with dementia is different, and our patient and reassuring staff are good at spotting symptoms, and adapting their approach. At Caring Comes 1st, we also appreciate how difficult an illness dementia can be for all concerned, and so we also offer close support to family and friends in the course of our duties.
