Luke

Here's what Luke has to say about working with us

I'm a part-time care assistant for the Elderly. Specifically, I look after elderly people with Dementia and sometimes aid with palliative care duties. Due to more music industry opportunities and university commitments, I'm sad to say that I am leaving Caring Comes 1st. The life skills that I have learnt from caring and being around the elderly are skills that I deem priceless. The amount of empathy I have gained and realising that life is so so so short has turned me into a more focused and thankful individual.

Massive thank you to Lisa Owen for taking the time out to train me, teach me the trade and motivate me when times got really difficult. Caring is such a fulfilling job and I take my hat off to all the carers in the profession. I'll never forget the service users I worked with, and the wise words they told me. I am very excited to take the skills and experiences I have learnt whilst at the care company and apply them to the music industry!

Samantha

Here's what Samantha has to say about working with us

I've always wanted to become a nurse and Lisa, from Caring Comes 1st, gave me an amazing opportunity to gain experience in caring for elderly and disabled people with varying needs. During this time I have been very privileged to support people in their own homes, enabling them to maintain their quality of life and preserve their independence. I have been very lucky to build close bonds with the clients and their families and have enjoyed getting to know them and learning about the interesting lives they used to lead. Everyday is different, but it is extremely rewarding knowing the difference I am making to their lives.

Lisa took the time to train me, teaching me the basics of care including supporting people with personal care, creating positive routines to support people with dementia to live a fulfilled life and caring for people at the end of their life to stay comfortable.

This opportunity has provided me with the vital skills and confidence required pursue my dream of becoming a nurse and without the encouragement from Lisa and her team I wouldn't be where I am today.
